— What I Do.
I’m a Creative Director and designer in Halifax, Nova Scotia with over 20 years of experience in a variety of disciplines and practices including digital media, UI/UX design, identity and branding, traditional media, print, and team-building and mentoring.
Presently, I work remotely as an Associate Creative Director at St. Joseph Communications (Toronto). In this role I direct a team of creative professionals and we produce content for clients such as CIBC Bank, TD Bank, GMC/Chevrolet/Buick, Eastlink, and Canon Canada.
Since 2006, I have been operating Fogo Creative, where I’ve had the opportunity to forge great relationships with my clients and create strong partnerships with colleagues in Halifax and around the world. I bring exemplary time management, customer relations and project management skills to complement my passion for the arts and the design profession.
I am storyteller. I help clients see how strong creative leadership can have a powerful impact on both their long-term and short-term business goals.

~ Exhibition Design
Give us space to gather and we will make special things to share.
I had the honour of being invited to design a group exhibition, Tukien (Awaken) by Nelson White, and Family Patterns by Letitia Fraser and Darcie Leblanc at the main gallery at the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia.
This was a quiet process. I listened to the Gallery, the exhibiting artists, and to the art itself. My work helped bring attention to the unifying elements of the show, highlighting them within one brand. The result was meaningful, cohesive, and sensitive.

Helping the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia stay visible during a transitional time.
Creating emotive ideas, campaigns, and products that help shift perspectives in an awakening social climate helps open minds, shape new behaviours, engage our community and spark change.
— Case Study 02.
Attracting, building and fostering stronger relationships with the Symphony.
By developing a welcoming identity and colourful brand, Symphony Nova Scotia has seen a big boost in personality with ticket sales to match.

“Jody’s work with us demonstrates a deep understanding of our outreach goals, our diverse community, and the ongoing need within a not-for-profit organization to balance accessibility, accuracy, and cost. He is consistently able to take a vision and turn it into a reality that connects with community members and partners across cultural and demographic lines. Since he began working with us in 2005, his work has helped contribute to our ticket sales increasing by double, and our subscriptions sales increasing by almost 70%.”

“Jody is exceptionally collaborative, a clear communicator, organized and consistent. He has established himself as a valued contributor in many of our projects, with work that requires high levels of creativity, strong technical skills and deft management of challenging deadlines. When we refer Jody to our own clients we feel confident that their requests and communications will be addressed professionally, in a timely manner and with consistent quality.”

“Jody isn’t a typical Creative Director – he’s approachable, nimble, flexible, big-picture thinking, team oriented, and human. As my colleague on the agency floor, I could always trust Jody to be thinking about the client, our team, the agency and the objectives we outlined. He was never a silo – always a partner. That’s what makes Jody different – he’s in it for the team and not for himself and his cross-functional awareness meant that he was a trusted advisor and someone that understood the business goes beyond the art.”
